Job summary

The Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph seeks a part-time Victim Assistance Coordinator to support survivors of sexual abuse by diocesan personnel.

This trauma-informed, victim-centered role coordinates outreach, pastoral support, and access to healing resources for survivors and families. You will work with Journey to Bethany and the Ombudsman, ensure timely communication and documentation, and help navigate diocesan and civil processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field or equivalent experience.
• Trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, or victim advocacy experience.
• Knowledge of restorative and reconciliation-oriented practices.
• Strong organizational/administrative skills; proficient with Office 365 and databases.
• Practicing Catholic with integrity aligned to Catholic teachings.

Responsibilities

• Provide immediate, trauma-informed responses when survivors report abuse.
• Offer ongoing accompaniment and advocacy for survivors and families through diocesan and civil processes.
• Document survivor interactions in the OCYP database with timely follow-up.
• Coordinate pastoral care and meetings with the Bishop or delegate for dialogue and healing.
• Support Survivor Advisory Group and Journey to Bethany initiatives for healing and justice.
• Collaborate across diocesan departments and partners to support survivors.
