Job summary

The City of Ames is seeking part-time Lane Workers to support CyRide. You will perform routine vehicle servicing, cleaning, and minor maintenance of transit vehicles and facilities, with shifts Monday–Thursday and rotating weekends. A $1,000 hiring wage incentive is offered, paid in installments after training and milestones.

Residency is required. Typical hours range across 3–6 hour shifts, with a schedule designed around 15–19 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Lane Workers perform routine daily vehicle servicing including fueling, cleaning, and minor servicing of transit vehicles.
• Cleaning and minor maintenance of facilities and grounds.
• Verifies safety equipment and paperwork related to services performed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine daily vehicle servicing: check fluids, tires, belts, and transmission fluids.
• Report maintenance needs and ensure wheelchairs and safety equipment are in place.
• Park buses for daily runs and complete required paperwork.
