Job summary

The Young Women’s Resource Center in Des Moines, IA is seeking two part-time Transportation Specialists to operate a van and transport youth to activities. Primarily afternoon/evening hours with some mornings in summer, 15-20 hours/week for one position and 8-12 hours/week for the other, hourly pay between $15.00 and $17.50 based on experience.

Responsibilities include safe driving, maintenance checks, documentation of transports, and supporting agency events.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 25 years of age to meet commercial auto policy requirements.
• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• Must have or obtain a valid Iowa Class D3 vehicle operator's permit prior to start date.
• Must pass pre-employment background checks (DCI, CPI, DMV).
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws for commercial passenger vehicles.
• Passage of all required criminal history background checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 15-passenger or 6 passenger van to transport participants to and from destinations.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance such as car washes and check oil, fluids, tires; report issues to supervisor.
• Follow instructions and safety standards for operation of the vehicle and passenger safety.
• Attend agency meetings and trainings; supervise volunteers and interns as appropriate.
• Support fundraising, marketing, and communications efforts when needed.
