Job summary

River Valley Transit is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform utility functions and minor mechanical repairs under the Maintenance Director. The role ensures safe, clean vehicles and facilities.

The shift runs 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM, with duties including fluid checks, cleaning, graffiti removal, tire maintenance and light repairs. The position requires basic mechanical aptitude, hand-tool use, and the ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Vo-Tech or similar maintenance course beneficial.
• Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge helpful.
• Ability to operate hand tools and learn on the job.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks: fluids, fuels, and tire pressure.
• Clean and maintain vehicles; wipe exterior/interior surfaces.
• Remove graffiti from bus surfaces as part of upkeep.
• Move/position vehicles and operate related equipment.
• Complete relevant paperwork and follow safety procedures.
