Job summary

Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission (SEARPDC) is seeking a Part-Time Bus Driver I to operate transit vehicles on scheduled routes. The role includes completing daily safety checks, fare collection, and assisting riders, with adherence to all regulations and company policies.

The position is entry-level within a safety-sensitive environment, requiring pre-employment background checks and random drug screenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; experience with the public preferred.
• Current Alabama driver’s license and insurability.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and initial drug screen.
• Lift and wheelchair safety, defensive driver, and fire extinguisher training required within designated timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Operate a transit vehicle to transport riders across SEARPDC service area.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Collect and document fares accurately.
• Provide escort and assistance to passengers entering/exiting the vehicle.
