Qualifications

• Must hold a valid high school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license with air brakes to operate a school bus and pass background checks.
• Meet the physical and mental requirements per FMCSA.
• Obtain basic first aid and CPR certification prior to training.
• Excellent driving record and safety compliance; complete bus driver training.
• Knowledge of school bus safety and local streets; learn securement of wheelchairs and seats.
• Ability to maintain discipline and communicate effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus for assigned routes, transporting students and staff safely.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and observe safety regulations.
• Maintain on-time schedules and ensure all passengers are accounted for at stops.
• Enforce student conduct and report any incidents as required.
• Complete accident and safety reports; report vehicle issues promptly.
• Drive on field trips and activities as scheduled, including evenings.
