Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a cashier for the Indiana division, responsible for daily register operations, customer assistance, and accurate cash handling in a thrift-store setting.

Qualifications include a high school diploma (preferred), cash handling experience, and a valid driver’s license with Safe From Harm training within 90 days. The role involves light warehouse tasks and weekend/evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, write and understand English for effective communication.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for keeping register, check-out, and counter areas clean and neat.
• Assist people with questions, donations and general information.
• Complete paperwork associated with the register, count down cash drawer, and prepare deposit at the end of your shift.
• Upon closing, you will clear register, account for all sales, fill out daily logbook, turn off signs, and turn off lights.
• Price bric-a-brac and place on shelves.
• Assist pricing on items such as shoes, purses, jewelry, accessories, etc. Keep hangers sorted by size/type and return hangers to appropriate hanger system located in clothing production area.
• Help check drop boxes daily - empty when necessary.
• Keep Christmas and Halloween items separate from bric-a-brac. After season, box and mark for storage.
• Place newer or higher priced clothing on special table in designated area.
• Place all rags in designated bins.
• Take out trash when necessary.
• Other tasks as assigned by leadership
