Job summary

Planters Bank & Trust Co. is seeking a part-time Teller at the Leland, MS branch to provide prompt, accurate customer service at the teller window. You will handle deposits, withdrawals, and other payments while maintaining cash drawer security and confidentiality.

You will also cross-sell bank products, assist customers, and refer complex cases to appropriate staff, with adherence to all policies. Prior cash handling experience is helpful, and the role may involve supporting ATM operations as

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Basic Accounting knowledge is a plus.
Bank experience is not required but strongly preferred.
6 months of cash handling and balancing money transactions within the prior four years.
Strong communication skills with customers and employees.
Satisfactory Credit Bureau and Background Check.

Responsibilities

Summary: Operates a Teller window by providing prompt, efficient and accurate customer service, maintains security of a cash drawer; represents the Bank in a courteous, professional manner alert to customer needs, cross-sells bank products, and refers customers to the appropriate staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain a strict standard of confidentiality involving all transactions.
Promote and maintain positive relations with all contacts, customers and potential customers.
Comply with all department and company policies and procedures.
Contribute to the fulfillment of department and company objectives and goals.
Perform as a team member in allocation and coordinating the work flow.
May assist in training new employees and answer co-worker questions.
Will be involved in ordering, receiving, verifying, and distributing cash.
Operate a tellers window to serve the banks customers by:
- Accepting retail and/or commercial deposits, verifying cash and endorsements and giving customer receipts. Examines cash carefully to guard against acceptance of counterfeit bills.
- Identifying customers and cashing checks, or referring customers to an officer for authorization to cash checks.
- Enters transactions into computer and issues customer receipts.
- Accepting savings deposits and withdrawals, verifying signatures.
- Providing additional customer services including Official Checks, Personal Money Orders, Savings Bonds, and Stop Payments.
- Balances cash daily by counting cash at the beginning of shift and balances cash and checks against computer records at the end of the shift.
- Accepting payments for loans.
May be responsible for bank opening/closing under dual control.
May be asked to assist in operational and servicing needs of the ATMs.
May be asked to admit customers to safe deposit boxes.
Open and close vault under dual control. May assist in vault maintenance.
Promote the banks products and services; consistently cross-sells bank products at every opportunity.
Make a concentrated effort to solve customer problems.
Observe suspicious behavior and report any such activity to head teller and/or security personnel as appropriate. In the event of a robbery, remain calm and follow bank procedures to safeguard customers and staff.
