Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Part Time Operations Associate/ Monitor Tech for the Springfield 1400 unit at Baystate Medical Center. The role runs 24 hours per week on a 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

shift with weekend and holiday rotation; inpatient telemetry on a 24-bed unit, handling admissions, discharges, and patient transfers with RN support. Responsibilities include bed management, heavy computer usage across multiple hospital systems, unit projects, reporting, and interdepartmental communication

Qualifications

• Previous clerical and customer service experience.
• Proficient with hospital software and data entry.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Willingness to take required dysrhythmia course within 6 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Bed Management: track, prioritize, and assign beds; communicate with relevant teams; ensure discharge documents are complete.
• Utilize computer applications (C Word, OA Gold, SMS, CIS, Premise, BMD, PCM Auditor, PeopleSoft, Staples, Kronos) daily.
• Lead unit-specific projects and participate in payroll, schedules, and other duties as needed.
• Provide clear shift handoffs: pending discharges, admissions, bed status, and next-step instructions.
• Coordinate with departments for tests and patient care; relay messages promptly to the team.
• Serve as a resource for Hospitalists and teaching teams; support rounds and scheduling.
• Maintain patient charts, discharge and transfer records; input data into unit systems as required.
• Keep logs and inventories up to date; restock as needed and manage supplies.
• Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures and equipment locations; mobilize support when needed.
• Monitor cardiac monitors and report irregularities; process EKG strips for specified patients.
• Demonstrate competency in one-to-one observation as required.
• May require CPR/BLS certification and telemetry-related training within 6 weeks of hire.
