Job summary

Sheltering Arms is seeking a conscientious Teacher Aide to assist in caring for groups of children from infant to Pre-K, supporting a teaching team with daily activities and safety practices.

The role emphasizes hands-on activities, social-emotional guidance, and collaboration with families and staff to maintain a positive learning environment. Must meet education requirements and adhere to Center policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with 2 or more years of Early Childhood Education experience preferred.
• CDA enroll within 12 mos. of hire.
• HS diploma plus course credits or equivalent.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) or related credential.
• Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) or Diploma considered.

Responsibilities

• Promote healthy eating practices by eating with children.
• Share routine duties with other staff (supervision on playground, toileting, cleanup, classroom maintenance, etc.).
• Assist in keeping room and other areas neat and clean.
• Interact with children in activities they are supervising.
• Perform hand washing and sanitizing procedures.
• Participate in child/teacher‑initiated activities.
• Use equipment/materials to promote physical development.
• Implement planned activities.
• Engage children in learning activities outdoors.
• Ensure materials are prepared in advance of activities.
• Follow Active Supervision policies at all times.
