Abacus! is seeking Tax Interns to join our Springfield, MO and Fayetteville, AR teams. This part-time, hourly internship provides hands-on experience in tax preparation, accounting, and bookkeeping while working with experienced tax professionals.

You'll assist with individual and business returns, learn how tax compliance fits into financial processes, and gain client interaction experience. The role offers flexible hours up to 20 per week and opportunities to develop skills through real client

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in college at the junior or senior level pursuing Accounting or a related degree.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial statements.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and time-management skills.
• No prior professional experience required; bookkeeping or tax preparation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing individual and business tax returns by gathering and organizing financial information.
• Gain hands-on experience with bookkeeping, data entry, account reconciliations, and financial documentation.
• Communicate with clients to gather tax documents and clarify financial information.
• Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documentation.
• Learn tax compliance requirements and how accounting information flows into tax preparation.
• Participate in training, shadow experienced tax professionals, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world client work.
