Job summary

UPMC East Hospital is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room. The role involves sterile setup, instrument passage, and assisting during procedures across ortho, robotics, vascular, and more.

Shifts start as early as 6am, with 2, 10, or 12-hour options weekly and occasional on-call. We offer a surgical tech career ladder with pay progression, welcoming all experience levels including students, and a sign-on bonus up to $12,500.

Qualifications

• CPR required based on AHA standards.
• Certification as CST or Tech in Surgery within 6 months of program completion (or grandfathering).
• BLS CPR certification required.
• PA Act 31/33/34 and FBI clearance with renewal as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile setup for procedures and pass instruments to surgeons.
• Maintain aseptic technique and instrument counts during surgery.
• Open and organize sterile supplies and handle graft materials as needed.
• Assist in patient positioning and transferring to recovery.
• Help with prep and cleanup of the operating room after procedures.
• Ensure medications are labeled and administered per policies.
