Island Health in Anacortes, WA, is seeking a Part Time Surgical Technician to support the Surgical Services Team. The role focuses on assisting surgeons, preparing the OR, and maintaining sterile technique in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with nursing staff, ensure instrument counts are accurate, and help with room turnover and performance improvement activities. A Surgical Technician Certificate, WA registration, BLS, and at least 6 months of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Surgical Technician Certificate from an accredited college, technical school, or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months training, experience, or combination of education and experience.
• Current Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Demonstrates competence in care of specimens and accurately handles specimens at all times.
• Ability to closely observe patient with minimal disturbance.
• Organized and self-motivated; manages department needs.

Responsabilités

• Provides patient explanations and reassurance when necessary.
• Prepares room with anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each procedure.
• Assists in positioning, prepping, and draping patients for surgical procedures.
• Anticipates needs of surgeons during intraoperative phase; helps prepare instruments and sutures for the surgeon.
• Completes operating room counts accurately and reports discrepancies to the circulating nurse and surgeon.
• Maintains asepsis during treatments and procedures; follows sterilization procedures.
• Scrubs for all procedures and ensures setup 15 minutes prior to scheduled time.
• Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and restocks supplies for end-of-case cleanup.
• Responsible for care of instruments and equipment during intra/postoperative phases.
• Collaborates with nursing staff to maintain equipment and supplies for surgeries.
