Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in the Surgery Department is seeking a Part Time Surgical Student Tech.

Under the supervision of a Staff Nurse or designee, you scrub for most types of surgery, assist the surgeon and anesthetist, and help with preparation of supplies and instrumentation. Candidates must be a high school graduate or equivalent and currently enrolled in a nationally accredited surgery technician program or have completed one semester of nursing school.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent who is currently enrolled in a nationally accredited school for surgery technicians or has completed one semester of nursing school.
• None, Student enrolled in surgery technician school.

Responsibilities

• Scrub for most types of surgery and assist the Surgeon and Anesthetist within the limits of current level of education.
• May perform some housekeeping and preparation of supplies and instrumentation.
• Assist with care of the patient in the Operating Room under supervision of a Staff Nurse or designee.
