Job summary

HYRUM CITY is hiring two substitute crossing guards to help children cross streets safely near schools. The role requires clear verbal and written communication, and the ability to work outdoors, rain or shine, with morning and afternoon shifts as needed.

Candidates must be at least 18 and able to meet safety and background requirements. Hours are 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Sufficient education to demonstrate aptitude for duties.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Ensure children use the crosswalk safely and communicate with children and motorists.
• Be able to verbally convey instructions and follow written and verbal guidance.
• Use handheld stop sign, reflective vest, and flashing 20 MPH lights.
• Maintain constant awareness of traffic flow and travel direction.
• Perform duties outdoors in various weather conditions.
