Secret Admirer Studio LLC in Kingston, NY is seeking a Part-Time Studio Assistant to support day-to-day reworks, garment prep, tagging, steaming, and packing for markets. You’ll help maintain a tidy studio and assist with shop/booth tasks.

The role is 12 hours per week (Tue–Fri range) with a start date in early November. Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license; experience with clothes/fabrics and Shopify is preferred.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented with retail experience and familiarity with clothes/fabrics.
• Knows basic hand sewing or can learn quickly; interest in sustainable fashion and thrifting.
• Strong preference for Shopify experience; able to assist with webshop setup.

Responsibilities

• Steam clothes, tag items, shave sweaters, launder and clean garments.
• Tidy, organize, snip threads, seam rip, sew buttons, and maintain the shop/booth.
• Occasional errands; work alongside the owner and visit vendor spaces within 10 minutes drive.

There is a possibility of additional take home work. There is some flexibility on the exact hours but work needs to take place between Tuesday - Friday.I am looking for someone who is creative with a strong work ethic that loves implementing efficient, organized systems for workflow. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, has retail experience, is familiar working with clothes/fabrics, knows basic hand sewing (or has crafty skills and can learn quickly) and has interest in sustainable fashion/style, thrifting and/or sewing.STRONG preference for experience with Shopify. Currently in the process of launching my webshop and will need help setting up a shipping station and packing/shipping orders.The role of the Studio Assistant is to help with the day to day tasks of processing the clothes and materials for reworks so that I can focus on sewing and growing the business.Primary Tasks include:steaming clothes, tagging, sweater shaver, laundry, cleaning, tidy/organizing, snipping threads, seam ripping, sewing buttons, shop/booth maintenance (located < 10 min from studio) and occasional errands.We will be working alongside each other so personality match must be a good fit! I am bubbly and chatty but I lock in and occasionally work in silence or with a show on in the background, Studio Assistant should be comfortable working solo (podcast/headphones welcome) / body doubling with me.Machine sewing is a plus but not required. I have worked in the clothing resale industry for ~15 yrs and am passionate about circular fashion and personal style. I proudly have built this business on a DIY ethos and budget and never worked in corporate fashion.I operate out of a private studio that is separate from but connected to my home. Half of the space is where I design, cut and sew the Rework collection and the other half is where the curated collection is processed and prepped. Sales primarily occur out of a multi-vendor space that I restock, merchandise and clean several times a week. I also do multiple in person markets and pop-ups throughout the year, and am in the process of launching a webshop.
