Job summary

TCAT Northwest Covington is seeking a part-time Student Support Specialist to assist with enrollment, orientation, records management, and daily student services operations. You will guide applicants, answer questions about programs and financial aid, and connect students with the right staff.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and reliability. You will handle admissions steps online, support new student orientation, manage records, and assist in recruitment events

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree or diploma preferred or as required by program area.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related industry experience; five (5) years preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and computer skills.
  • Evidence of good character, organizational skills, professionalism, and mature judgment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, faculty, and staff.
  • Skill in managing deadlines and working in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, friendly, and knowledgeable support to students by answering questions about academic programs, enrollment steps, and financial aid, and connecting them with the right staff or department to meet their needs.
  • Provide admissions support by assisting students with the online application process via student kiosks and guiding them through the steps to enroll.
  • Assist with new student orientation and ensure compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.
  • Assist with orientation preparation and proper placement by uploading orientation materials, verifying document accuracy, organizing medical student records, and entering information into BDMS.
  • Maintain and update parking decal logs and issue student ID badges.
  • Schedule appointments for admissions testing (HESI) and orientation sessions; process associated payments.
  • Assist with administration of HESI exam for Allied Health programs.
  • Contact prospective students via phone & email to provide admissions information and follow up on inquiries.
  • Support recruitment activities by participating in high school visits, college and career fairs, open house events, and other outreach initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Campus Coordinator, Lead Student Services Coordinator, Vice Presidents, and President.

SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Salary is in accordance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines and the TCAT Northwest Compensation Plan. Background checks are conducted on all full-time and part-time employees prior to hiring.
