Job summary

Poway Unified School District is hiring Student Services Assistants to support elementary students. Positions are 3 hours per day (15 hours per week) for 9.5 months and are not benefited.

Eligible candidates with a CA teaching credential or a Bachelor's + CBEST may start at Step 6 of the district salary range. Selection emphasizes examination scores and ranking on an eligibility list that will be used for hiring across similar roles for up to six months.

Qualifications

• One year of experience working with children in an organized setting.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling student information.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with presentation of behavioral learning modules and tutoring individuals or small groups.
• Oversee and monitor students during activities and small group experiences.
• Conduct training meetings with students and reinforce reflective listening skills.
• Present lessons on social/emotional skills and bullying prevention.
• Notify counselor/administrator regarding cases affecting student welfare.
