Job summary

John Deere in Fargo, ND is seeking a Part-Time Student to support Product Engineering. You will assist with testing, design and documentation under supervision, while gaining practical experience in a real-world engineering environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing electrical/computer, mechanical engineering, or computer science degrees, available 10-20 hours weekly during the school year and 30-40 hours in summer, with a December 2027 graduation or later. Relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in electrical, computer, mechanical engineering, or computer science.
  • Full-time student at a local accredited university.
  • Graduation date December 2027 or later.
  • GPA 2.8 or above.
  • Available 10–20 hours/week during the academic year.
  • Available 30–40 hours/week during the summer.
  • Must commute to Fargo, ND daily.
  • Freshman/Sophomore/Junior standing preferred; Seniors/Advanced degrees may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Work with supervisor or engineers to support testing, design and review.
  • Maintain design documentation for approval by engineers.
  • Perform other engineering tasks under supervision.
  • On-the-job and classroom training will be provided.

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities
  • Work closely with supervisor or other engineering personnel to support product testing, design and review.
  • Support the maintenance of documentation for each design in a neat and organized fashion for approval by superior and other engineering personnel.
  • Performs other engineering tasks as directed under the supervision of an engineering supervisor or mentor.
  • Both on the job and classroom training will be provided

What Skills You Need
  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in electrical/computer engineering, mechanical engineering or computer science: others may apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
  • Graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Available to work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • Available to work 30-40 hours/week during the summer semester
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Fargo, ND on a daily basis year-round
  • Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior standing students are preferred, Senior standing and those pursuing Advanced degrees may apply.
