Job summary

The University of the Incarnate Word seeks a Student Optical Assistant to support the optical staff at our San Antonio locations. The role keeps the optical dispensary organized, assists with optical sales, and coordinates order pick-up under the Optical Manager.

The position is part-time and requires reliable, customer-friendly individuals with basic computer skills and familiarity with HIPAA policies, working within a university setting.

Qualifications

• Current UIW student.
• Previous work experience in an office or retail setting; optical experience not required, on-the-job training provided.
• Hours are Monday–Friday 8:00–17:00 with two Saturdays per month; minimum 10 hours weekly.

Responsibilities

• Manages phone lines and messages.
• Organizes and stocks dispensary.
• Manages incoming and outgoing mail.
• Assists clients with optical sales.
• Scans paperwork into EHR.
• Troubleshoots delayed orders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
