Job summary

The Rosenberg School of Optometry at University of the Incarnate Word invites part-time faculty candidates for Clinical and/or Didactic Adjunct roles. The position may involve clinical patient care and instructional responsibilities, supervising RSO Residents, Interns, and Students within the Clinical Network.

Activity may include classroom and laboratory teaching as needed, in line with UIW policy and ethics.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited school.
• Current Texas optometry license or eligibility to obtain by date of assignment.
• Part-time faculty role with clinical and/or didactic responsibilities.
• Ability to teach in classroom and laboratory settings.
• Must adhere to UIW policies and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical interns, residents, and students in the RSO clinical network.
• Prepare course outlines and deliver lectures for optometry theory and clinical exams.
• Prepare and administer timely assessments for clinical and classroom duties.
• Collaborate with department faculty to ensure curriculum outcomes and accreditation standards.
• Be available outside of class to assist students and provide feedback.
• Maintain records and provide timely evaluation of student performance.
