Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our Leavenworth, KS location. This role supports store operations, customer service, and team development while ensuring a clean, well-stocked environment and adherence to company policies.

You will supervise and train Store Associates, handle daily tasks, and maintain a safe, friendly store atmosphere. The position emphasizes strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent physical tasks including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing and pulling
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and handling record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits)
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, and general presentation
• Other duties as assigned*
