Job summary

Family Dollar LLC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development in our Kansas City area location.

The role involves assisting with daily store activities, merchandise handling, and ensuring store standards while maintaining a positive and safe environment for customers and associates. Strong communication and a willingness to lead a team are essential. This is a full-time position located on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom according to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure compliance by associates.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
