Job summary

Smart & Final in Los Angeles is hiring a Part-time Associate to join our store operations team. You will report to the Store Manager and perform duties including receiving inventory, stocking, operating a cash register, and maintaining store cleanliness.

The position requires strong customer service, ability to communicate in English, and physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Starting rate is $18.50 per hour with benefits typical of retail roles.

Qualifications

• Read and write English and interact with the public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, and memos.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees.
• Apply common sense to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and move up to 25 lb, up to 45 lb, and up to 60 lb.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a store section and stock merchandise with proper pricing and rotation.
• Keep areas clean and uphold sanitation standards in store and parking lot.
• Operate a cash register and handle payments, refunds, and age-verification where required.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient customer service and assist with loading purchases when needed.
• Perform basic bookkeeping and track lost/damaged goods and store supplies.
