Job summary

Lone Star College Atascocita Center is seeking a Part-time Staff Assistant II to perform standard and some advanced administrative duties in a campus environment.

Responsibilities include supporting students and staff, coordinating orientation events, producing task-tracking reports, and managing office communications and inventory.

Qualifications

  • Assist with New Student Orientation programs, Information Sessions, and Open House events at the center.
  • Produce reports to track tasks, including class rosters and textbook adoptions.
  • Distribute communications to instructors about important dates and center events.
  • Submit work requests and coordinate maintenance of office equipment with internal/external partners.
  • Manage inventory and coordinate with vendors, including quotations and invoice processing.
  • Keep classrooms, adjunct rooms, and receptionist areas organized and well-maintained.
  • Operate office equipment such as PCs, printers, scanners, and calculators.
  • Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The PT Staff Assistant II, Atascocita Center performs standard and some advanced administrative duties. Duties include receiving and logging information, making copies, preparing correspondence and basic documents, answering routine questions and inquiries, maintaining databases and tracking data. May provide departmental support by coordinating office activities and meetings. May provide direct support to staff at varying levels.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support students, faculty, staff, and visitors by helping to address their inquiries and provide excellent customer service support.
  • Assists with New Student Orientation programs, Information Sessions, and Open House events hosted at the center.
  • Produces reports that enable others to track, evaluate, and complete tasks, including but not limited to syllabus, vitae reviews, textbook adoptions, and class rosters.
  • Distribute communication to instructors regarding important dates (e.g. Official day, W Day), center events, and announcements.
  • Submits marketing and work requests and coordinates the maintenance of general office equipment with internal departments and external vendors.
  • Manage inventory of assets and supplies, source and coordinate with vendors, obtain quotations, and process invoice submissions.
  • Assist in keeping the classrooms, adjunct room, and receptionist suite organized and well-maintained.
  • Use and maintain a variety of office equipment, such as personal computers, printers, photocopiers, scanners, and calculators.
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with common office software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments
Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule And Conditions
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience in a college or university setting
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $15.92.
