Job summary

Lawrence University in Wisconsin is seeking a part-time kitchen support role to assist the Chef with food prep, dishes, and cleaning. You will host day groups, luncheons, and events requiring meal preparation and guest engagement, while performing housekeeping and serving duties as needed.

The position requires reliability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and flexibility to work mornings, evenings, or weekends. A criminal/driver checks and references will be required.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in food service and kitchen work preferred; training provided.
• Adherence to kitchen sanitation standards and safety protocols.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to function in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues, including student workers.
• Experience working with young adults preferred.
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, split, and/or weekend shifts.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES :

• Actively engage all Björklunden constituents including guests, donors, prospective students, volunteers, parents of students, etc. to promote a positive attitude towards Björklunden and Lawrence University.
• Assist Chef in kitchen duties including food prep and presentation, dishes, and cleaning.
• Assist with hosting day groups, retreats, luncheons, and other scheduled events that require meal preparation, cleaning, and guest engagement.
• Perform housekeeping/kitchen/serving duties in the lodge as needed.
• Serve as a back-up for other Björklunden team members as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :

Will work collaboratively with all members of the Björklunden team. Must be able to provide excellent customer service to all members of the campus community, to respond to and work with students, faculty, staff and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, and to work independently and with team members.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and remain on feet for extended periods of time throughout the work shift.
• Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions as needed to fulfill job duties.

Employment Requirements:

• Must have successful completion of criminal record check, driving record check and reference checks.
• Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license and ability to meet University driving standards.
