Responsibilities
Summary
The Senior Transportation Officer is a lead worker assigned by the Assistant Director, Transportation, to high-risk operations and federal government transportation contracts. The role requires a CDL Class B with a passenger endorsement and involves securely transporting detainees, ensuring vehicle safety and maintenance, and assisting management in problem-solving during transportation activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist management in resolving unexpected issues during detainee transportation, developing effective solutions.
- Review vehicle inspection reports, summarize findings for transportation management, and suggest improvements.
- Ensure all vehicle permits and licenses are current.
- Verify that vehicles are equipped with necessary safety equipment before trips and report issues to management.
- Track DOT HOS using Electronic Logging Devices.
- Assist with interviewing and screening Transport Officer applicants as needed.
- Review all relevant paperwork and reports thoroughly, submitting them according to policies.
- Ensure all transportation missions comply with PBNDS/FBNDS safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; applicable state employment requisites.
- At least 21 years old.
- U.S. citizen with a valid driver license.
- Three years of law enforcement-related experience, including two years as a lead supervisor or supervisor, or completion of GEO's Supervision Training Course (certificate required).
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- State Firearms License and State Security Guard License.
- Completion of an approved training program in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military, with certification.
- Clean driving record with no preventable accidents, suspensions, DWI/DUI, or more than two moving violations in the last three years.
- Pass company and DOT drug and alcohol tests.
- Ability to work overtime, travel extensively, and handle physical and mental stress.
- Reliable attendance and alertness during shifts.
- Ability to work up to 16 hours within a 24-hour period.
- Mature, flexible, able to command respect and confidence, with high tolerance for stress.
- Pass background checks for company and federal client.
- Willingness to travel on short notice and work with departmental software.
- Possibly obtain a USDOT medical examiner certificate (
