Responsibilities

Summary

The Senior Transportation Officer leads operations in high-risk and high-profile federal contracts, securely transports detainees, and ensures vehicle safety and maintenance. The role also involves assisting management with problem-solving during transportation activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist management with unexpected transportation issues and develop solutions.
• Review vehicle inspection reports, create summaries, and suggest improvements.
• Ensure all permits and licenses are valid.
• Verify safety equipment before trips and notify management of issues.
• Provide security during offsite medical appointments and manage visitor access.
• Report incidents, security breaches, and conflicts.
• Use de-escalation and physical intervention techniques as needed.
• Track DOT HOS using Electronic Logging Devices.
• Assist with interviewing and screening Transport Officers.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
• Maintain safety standards per PBNDS/FBNDS during transport.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; valid state requirements for employment.
• At least 21 years old.
• U.S. Citizen.
• Three years of law enforcement-related experience, including two years as a supervisor or completion of GEO’s Supervision Training Course.
• Leadership experience.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record over the past three years.
• Pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Ability to work overtime, travel, and handle physical and mental stress.
• Reliable attendance and alertness during shifts.
• Ability to work up to 16 hours within a 24-hour period.
• Ability to pass background checks and obtain necessary medical certifications.
