Qualifications

• High school diploma plus paraprofessional certification and 20 hours of annual training.
• Associates degree preferred; willing to obtain Pennsylvania Paraprofessional certification within 3 months.
• Clearances completed.
• 1-2 years experience with students with special needs in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitors students' progress during class and independent work under guidance of a teacher.
• Provides one-on-one or small group review of material taught by certificated staff.
• Assists with classroom management and reinforcement of learning strategies.
• Assists students with self-care per IEPs and as directed by teachers.
• Assists with adapting materials per IEPs (enlarging, color-coding) as directed by teachers.
• Maintains confidentiality and ethical behavior; communicates with parents as directed.
