Job Summary

Albany State University invites applications for a Part‑time Instructor of Sociology position, which is a key academic position that plays a major role in advancing the mission of the Department of Social Sciences at Albany State University. This is a non‑tenure track part‑time position open to all specializations. The position is responsible for delivering high quality instruction and completing course related administrative duties.

Location

Albany State University – West Campus, 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver lectures, prepare course materials, and facilitate learning experiences for students in the department.
  • Courses may include a mix of face‑to‑face, hybrid, and fully online classes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of students’ grades and attendance.
  • Follow established expectations and protocols for the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Sociology or a related discipline, or a Master’s Degree with 18 hours of Sociology courses at the graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or ABD with an established defense date.
  • College level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with and supporting diverse student populations.
Salary

Salary is a per‑course rate.

Knowledge

Abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple instructional responsibilities while maintaining accurate and timely academic records.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff while adhering to departmental policies and academic standards.
Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Albany State University.
