Job summary

NOVEL PREP is seeking a passionate High School Social Science Teacher for a part-time, in-person role in Cupertino, CA. The ideal candidate will teach AP U.S.

History, AP World History, AP Human Geography, and standard social science courses while fostering critical thinking and clear communication in a supportive classroom. The position requires a strong social science background, a valid secondary teaching credential preferred, and at least two years of high-school teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid secondary teaching credential or certification in Social Science preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent high-school teaching experience in social science subjects.
• Experience with AP U.S. History, AP World History, AP Human Geography is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver standards-aligned instruction across assigned social science courses.
• Create a respectful, inclusive classroom culture with diverse perspectives and active engagement.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet English language learners and students with learning differences.
• Assess student progress with formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen interdisciplinary connections and align curriculum.

Education
