Job summary

NOVEL PREP seeks an experienced high school English teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The role covers English 9–AP English Language and Composition, including diverse literature and writing courses.

You will plan engaging lessons, foster critical thinking, and support students with varied learning needs while collaborating with colleagues and participating in professional development. This is an on-site, full-time opportunity in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field; master's degree preferred.
• Valid teaching certificate/license in secondary English language arts (or equivalent).
• At least two years of high school English teaching experience in the past two years.
• Familiarity with various teaching strategies, assessment techniques, and educational technologies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with colleagues, students, parents, and stakeholders.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
• Passion for literature, language, and education to inspire lifelong learners and critical thinkers.
• Flexibility and willingness for professional development.
• Compliance with state and federal regulations regarding education and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards for English courses.
• Establish an inclusive classroom environment encouraging participation and respect for diverse perspectives.
• Meet diverse learning needs including ELL and SPED through varied teaching methods.
• Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments with timely feedback.
• Implement effective classroom management to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units and align teaching strategies.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians about progress and opportunities.
• Stay updated on developments in English education and educational technologies.
• Participate in professional development, meetings, and school activities.
• Fulfill other duties assigned by school administration.
