Job summary

The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC) in the School of Business is seeking a part-time (70%) Business Advisor (Educational Program Administrator).

The incumbent will report to the CTSBDC Associate State Director and will advise and counsel individuals seeking to start a business, covering management, finance, marketing, and licensing and registration topics, and providing an overview of tax obligations and other topics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, counseling, social work, or related field.
• At least five years of related experience in entrepreneurship, business management, financial counseling or business education.
• Ability to assess client needs and relay information clearly.
• Ability to advise, counsel, and mentor individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience planning and delivering client development and training programs.
• Independent work style with strong judgment and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and management assistance to small businesses via on-site visits, online platforms, email and phone.
• Counsel and recommend courses of action on business models, financing, marketing and regulatory topics.
• Assist clients in developing business concepts using canvas and business plan outlines.
• Maintain CTSBDC program capacity and deliver quality advising programs.
• Coordinate outreach, client development and training programs and measure success.
