Pet Supplies Plus is seeking a Shift Lead in Des Moines, IA. This role leads store operations, supports team leaders, and ensures high standards of customer service and neighborly care for pets and people.

You will engage customers, supervise daily tasks, and help maintain a welcoming neighborhood store environment. Ideal candidates bring at least two years in retail, strong sales and service skills, and the ability to operate a forklift and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong sales and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate equipment including a forklift; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work flexible schedules; reliable transportation.
• Must pass background check and be 18+.

Responsibilities

• Lead store activities and support team leaders with daily operations.
• Provide leadership coverage up to four days per week when needed.
• Ensure cleanliness, animal care, safety and security standards.
• Assist with back-office tasks like signs, price changes, and cashier records.
• Involve in recruiting, onboarding and staff development.
• Identify opportunities to improve community engagement or store performance.
• Fill in as associate when not acting as manager-on-duty.
