Job summary

Alfred Coffee in Beverly & Martel, Los Angeles, seeks a Part-Time Shift Lead to support daily cafe operations and lead the team during busy shifts. You’ll help uphold hospitality standards, coach staff, and ensure consistent service and product quality.

You will assist management with staffing, maintain a welcoming environment, and ensure smooth floor flow while delivering exceptional guest experiences. Tips are included in earnings.

Qualifications

• Previous cafe, coffee, or restaurant experience is preferred but not required.
• Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while staying calm under pressure.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow.
• Flexibility to attend trainings or team meetings outside regular shifts.
• Reliable attendance with a minimum of three shifts per week.
• Full-time employees must average 30 hours per week to remain full-time.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example in hospitality and uphold Alfred service standards at all times.
• Provide confident, solutions-oriented leadership during shifts for smooth cafe operations.
• Create a welcoming environment for guests and model professional engagement.
• Address guest questions, concerns, and escalations per Alfred standards.
• Maintain knowledge of offerings and support team development.
• Foster teamwork through accountability, communication, and recognition.
• Support onboarding and training through coaching and feedback.
• Grow barista product knowledge of coffee/tea and preparation techniques.
• Build relationships with team members and identify growth opportunities.
• Assist management with staffing, coverage, and shift flow decisions.
• Delegate tasks effectively and ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Support policy adherence in partnership with management.
• Oversee daily operations to ensure quality, cleanliness, and consistency.
• Ensure food/beverage items meet Alfred standards for quality and timeliness.
• Support inventory, receiving deliveries, and cash handling procedures.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and HACCP compliance.
