Sheltering Arms is seeking a Part-time Food Service Assistant to support meal preparation, inventory control, and sanitation in a center setting. The role involves following CACFP meal patterns, assisting with nutrition education, and ensuring safe, clean food service operations for children and families.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Collaboration with center staff and adherence to schedules are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of nutritional values of foods used in menu substitutions.
• Ability to relate to children and adults in a positive manner.
• Ability to lift at least 35 lbs without assistance and 50 lbs with assistance.
• Familiarity with USDA meal patterns.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation for breakfast, lunch and snacks.
• Assist with maintaining records, orders, inventory and production records.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and proper food handling procedures.
• Follow CACFP meal patterns and portion sizes by age.
• Support nutrition education and classroom cooking activities.
• Attend staff and parent meetings as requested.
• Contribute to a positive environment for children and families.
