Arup is seeking a Transport Planning Advisor in New York to lead the planning practice for rail, bus, and TOD initiatives. The role requires a senior practitioner with deep experience delivering transport planning analyses, building defensible funding cases, and guiding client engagements across transit agencies and regulators.

You will direct projects, mentor staff, and assist in business development while advancing sustainable transportation outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, or related field.
• Minimum of 20 years of experience in public transit service and/or infrastructure planning.
• Experience as a project manager and/or project director is required.
• Experience in both consulting and public sector is highly desirable.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to resolve complex design, interface, constructability, and standards-compliance issues.
• Experience with transportation planning disciplines including land use, TOD, micromobility, pedestrian safety, and funding policy.
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring staff, coordinating subconsultants, and QA processes.
• Strong client relationships, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead delivery of bus and rail infrastructure and service planning projects.
• Lead studies on transit oriented development and complete streets for multimodal connectivity.
• Deliver planning studies to increase ridership and improve customer experience.
• Provide guidance on transport funding policy to clients.
• Help transit agencies reduce emissions and meet sustainability goals.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
• Identify and execute business development strategies to win new work.
• Lead proposal development and contract negotiations; manage client relationships.
