Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is seeking a Recreation Supervisor to plan, organize, develop and supervise activities for participants from pre-schoolers to seniors. This on-site role runs Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and may include weekend special events.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of supervisory experience in recreation programming; an AA degree with 1 year supervisory experience is also acceptable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of verifiable supervisory experience in childcare, recreation programming or related field.
• AA Degree diploma or above with 1 year supervisory experience in related/unrelated field acceptable.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Must possess or obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
• Out Of School Positions Only: CDA preferred.
• Applicants for Parks and Recreation positions involving vulnerable populations must complete Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
• Ability to respond to supervision and direction professionally and adhere to policies.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and supervises recreation activities, games, programs, field trips, events and sports for ages from pre-school to seniors.
• Supervise a specified group of participants indoors and outdoors, including individuals with special needs.
• Maintain safe environments and complete injury/incident reports as required.
• Conduct Crisis Response Drills, Fire Drills, and emergency preparedness procedures.
• Foster positive employee relations and morale city-wide.
• Drive recreation van on required field trips.
• Be available for four mandatory special events (e.g., July 4th, Tree Lighting, Holiday Parade, St Patrick’s Parade).
