Job summary

Allegro Harrington Park in Harrington Park, NJ is seeking a Maintenance Assistant (Part-Time) to support the Maintenance Director in preserving the property's physical operations.

Responsibilities include routine and preventive maintenance across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems, plus responding to work orders and resident requests. The role demands reliability and the ability to work Wed–Sat.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year maintenance-related experience including working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems.
• Must be an independent worker with effective communication skills able to multi-task and be organized.
• Must have positive Criminal Background Screening.
• The Community is a drug free workplace; associates are subject to adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy.
• If assigned driving responsibilities, the associate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable MVR in accordance with Company Fleet Safety standards. Driving duties are incidental to the primary responsibilities of this position and may be assigned based on business needs.
• MVR reviews will be conducted at hire and periodically thereafter in accordance with Company policy. Associates who do not meet or maintain Company driving standards may be ineligible to perform driving duties; however, such determination will not automatically affect continued employment in the position where driving is not an essential function.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems.
• Respond promptly to work orders and resident maintenance requests.
• Assist the Maintenance Director with scheduled and as-needed repair and upkeep projects.
• Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with community maintenance standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked maintenance shop.
• Support move-in and move-out unit turnover as needed.
• Assist the MD to ensure that the Community is always covered in the event of an emergency.
• Assist MD in the preventative and routine maintenance programs to ensure that mechanical equipment, building structures and grounds are properly maintained.
• Assist the MD in the safe operation of all mechanical equipment through routine physical inspections.
• Assist MD to ensure that all maintenance work and storage areas are maintained in a safe, organized, and clean manner.
• Assist MD in maintaining online work order system, efficiently use the system and help delegate work orders to staff.
• Follow OSHA and Company guidelines relating to lock down and tag out procedures that are approved for the Community and follow OSHA standards for safe working procedures.
