Job summary

Chelmsford Public Schools is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide first aid to students and staff, administer medications, and perform ordered treatments in accordance with Massachusetts laws and district policies.

The role requires MA RN licensure, current CPR/AED certification, pediatric or community health experience, and strong communication skills to work with students, staff and parents. This part-time position carries a daily rate of $200.

Qualifications

• Valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts RN license.
• Current CPR/AED certification from a recognized provider.
• Nursing experience in community health or pediatrics preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assess daily visits, evaluate health status and provide care per standing orders.
• Administer first-aid and emergency care.
• Dispense medications with proper authorization and documentation.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents regarding medical needs.
• Communicate health needs in English with school staff.
• Document care in the electronic health records system.
• Promote Universal Precautions to maintain a healthy school environment.
