Job summary

Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School in Chicago seeks a compassionate Part-Time School Nurse (RN) to support student health in a therapeutic setting. This role collaborates with the Full-Time Nurse, Medical Director, and interdisciplinary team to deliver consistent care.

Candidates must hold an active Illinois RN license with at least five years of clinical experience and be willing to pursue an Illinois Professional Educator License with School Nurse endorsement. 20–24 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license and current practice.
• Minimum five years of relevant clinical experience.
• Experience in a school setting or pediatric behavioral health is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and maintain accurate documentation.
• Provide nursing care for acute illness, injury, and chronic conditions.
• Support health protocols and student wellness initiatives.
• Serve as coverage for the Full-Time Nurse as needed.
• Maintain health records in line with ISBE requirements.
• Support health components of IEPs.
• Communicate with families, staff, and external providers.
• Collaborate to promote a safe, healthy learning environment.
• Participate in school community activities and interdisciplinary collaboration.
