Job summary

Hingham Public Schools is seeking a part-time Food Service Technician for Foster Elementary. The role includes preparing and serving meals, operating the POS system, and maintaining cleanliness and food safety throughout shifts.

The position is 15 hours per week, with duties spanning breakfast and lunch service. Prior POS experience and ServSafe certification are a plus; citizenship or valid work status is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand for extended periods while working.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• Exposure to heat during cooking and food prep.
• Dexterity to handle knives and kitchen equipment.
• Cash handling experience welcome/preferred.
• Experience with POS systems is a plus.
• ServSafe Food Handler certification is a plus.
• Required by USDA professional standards and director-approved PD.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and food safety procedures.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
• Ensure proper serving temperatures and palatability.
• Follow portion control to minimize waste and shortages.
• Handle cash and transactions efficiently.
• Maintain inventory and rotate stock.
• Ensure sanitation and safe food handling practices.
