Job summary

The Brewer School Department invites applications for a Food Service Assistant (3 hours per day) at Brewer High School. Pay ranges from $17.48 to $21.76 per hour and includes paid time off.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and be able to perform daily kitchen duties, sanitation, and cash handling with accuracy. This role supports meal service, inventory, and safety compliance in a school cafeteria setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency certificate required.
• Prior food service experience is preferred, but not required.
• Must have a current CHRC (fingerprinting) on file with the Maine Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Preparation, serving, and storage of food.
• Daily cleaning and sanitation of kitchen, service and storage areas.
• Maintains and observes the highest standards of safety and sanitation in the kitchen and personally.
• Assists in the weekly ordering of foods and supplies and monthly inventories.
• Must be able to keep accurate records of food amounts prepared, served and left.
• Operate a cash register/point-of-sale system and perform daily cash up with accuracy.
