Job summary

Bedford County Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Custodian to support cleaning and basic maintenance in school facilities. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restocking supplies across classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and offices.

The role requires reliability, ability to follow directions, and physical endurance; lifting up to 50 pounds and working in a school environment are expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write in English.
• Follow written and oral instructions.
• Adhere to safety precautions to avoid injuries.
• Ability to complete written forms and records.

Responsibilities

• SWEeps, mops, dusts all classrooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways and specialty rooms.
• Wipes and sanitizes toilets, sinks, mirrors, countertops, windows and water fountains.
• Empties trash and stocks paper products in restrooms.
• Picks up litter and debris on outside school grounds; cuts grass as needed.
• Snow removal using tractors with snow blades and shoveling as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Head Custodian.
