Job summary

Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is seeking a part-time Traffic Control Officer to protect children and parents crossing roadways near schools and to help buses enter and exit school grounds safely. Officers are assigned to designated school crossings within the Cumberland County School System based on traffic volume and crossing characteristics.

Qualifications include U.S. citizenship, 18+, a high school diploma or GED, and a North Carolina driver's license; a comprehensive background

Qualifications

• Must be a United States citizen.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid North Carolina driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation including criminal background check, eye and hearing exam, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection for children and parents crossing roadways en route to and from school.
• Assist bus and school-related traffic to enter and exit school grounds safely and in a timely manner.
• Be assigned to designated crossings at schools within the Cumberland County School System based on traffic volume, terrain, and crossing characteristics.
