Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Direct pedestrians across streets after assessing traffic flow to identify breaks for safe crossing.
• Understand the traffic laws, signs and speed limits within the jurisdiction to guide vehicles and people.
• Communicate crossing rules and regulations to students to ensure safety.
• Collaborate with officials to develop traffic patterns that balance safety, efficiency and convenience.
• Maintain crossing areas free of hazards and use appropriate tools and equipment like lights, flags and hand signals.
• Identify drivers who are speeding or driving carelessly and notify authorities.
• Vigilantly monitor for dangers and develop preventive solutions.
• Report unsafe student behavior to school officials to reduce risks at crossings.
