Responsibilities include guiding vehicles and pedestrians, stopping traffic with a portable sign, and supervising student safety patrols when present. Requires the ability to stand outdoors for extended periods and to work in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of city traffic laws and pedestrian safety practices.
• Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with children, parents, and motorists.

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Physical ability to stand outdoors for extended periods and work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Guide or control vehicular and pedestrian traffic at streets, schools, or crossings.
• Monitor traffic flow to locate safe gaps for pedestrians to cross.
• Stop vehicles using portable stop signs and lead children safely across the street.
• Supervise student safety patrols, when present.
• Report unsafe driving behaviors or traffic violations to authorities.
• Attend safety training sessions as required.
• Monitor and regulate the access and flow of people to prevent congestion or unsafe conditions.
