Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a part-time crossing guard to help ensure the safety of students in designated school crossing areas. You will communicate with students, parents and staff and enforce crossing procedures as needed.

Responsibilities include supervising crosswalks, reporting incidents, and assisting with related duties to support safe school transportation. Requires high school education or equivalent and knowledge of traffic safety rules.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of traffic safety rules and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the safe crossing of school children in designated crossing areas.
• Assist students, parents, and staff to provide safe access to and from school.
• Communicate to students, parents, staff and visitors to ensure their understanding of school policies and enforcement procedures.
• Report observation and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel.
• Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns.
• Wear orange safety vest and carry MPS issued, red hand-held sign to guide students, parents, staff, etc. through crossing area.
• Place and remove school crossing and traffic control signs to notify motorists of school pedestrian crossing.
• Regular on time attendance required.
• Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
