Job summary

Bank Street College of Education’s Liberty LEADS program seeks a part-time Counselor to work with middle and high school students in New York City. The role focuses on delivering social and emotional learning through project-based activities, with in-person sessions and Zoom when needed.

The position requires delivering prepared lesson topics, collaborating with advisors, and employing positive behavior management strategies to support student growth.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, education or related field preferred.
• Must possess strong communication skills and knowledge of group development.
• Experience creating and running groups with middle school and/or high school aged youth.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement social/emotional learning curriculum for small groups of students.
• If circumstances require online classes, instructors must have reliable WIFI, cameras on, and engage students on camera.
• Manage classroom using positive behavior management strategies.
• Meet regularly with the Liberty LEADS Advisors for supervision and debriefing.
• Provide lesson plans to supervisor one week in advance for approval.
