Job summary

Liberty LEADS in New York City seeks a dedicated Middle School Adviser to work with students in grades 5–8 and their families. The role focuses on registration, individualized planning, and ongoing academic, social, and emotional support to promote successful transition to high school.

The position requires collaboration with schools, counselors, and staff to advocate for students and strengthen family engagement, with FLEXIBLE hours including evenings/Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Full-time position with evening, Saturday, and occasional overnight work.
• 3+ years experience with 5th-8th grade students (ages 10-14).
• Experience with the NYC public school system and middle/high school admissions process.
• Experience in out-of-school time settings.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with students and families to conduct registration.
• Develop individualized student plans and school readiness supports.
• Monitor academic progress, attendance, and development; adjust supports as needed.
• Coordinate communication with families via calls, emails, texts, and other platforms.
• Support families with admissions processes and school applications.
